Melissa Alston was hired by FLETC Glynco Security on 11 June 2007, as a Security Dispatcher. She became a Chenega Security Services employee in October 2008, when CSPS was awarded the Glynco contract. During Melissa’s time with the prior contractor, as well as CSPS, she has shown herself to be a conscientious and dedicated security professional. In an often fast paced work environment, which requires calmness when on ongoing activities and situations are anything but calm, she has proven herself to be a Public Safety Tele-communicator who is decisive and makes decisions based on logic and forethought.
Donald Kicklighter has been a FLETC Glynco Security Officer since his hire on 08 August 2005. When CSPS was awarded the current contract, in October 2008, Don was hired as one of Chenega’s Shift Supervisors. In this position he has rotated to all three of our shifts, and has served as CSPS after hour’s representative. LT Kicklighter brought to the FLETC a broad background in Community Law Enforcement and Public Service.
Stephanie (Lupo) Knight was hired to the FLETC Glynco by CSPS as an Administrative Clerk, on 02 April 2011. In the relatively short time she has been with CSPS, she has proven herself to be focused on personal education and career advancement goals. In August 2012, she was cross-trained, as a Public Safety Tele-communicator in our Security Dispatch Department, and has done very well in this capacity. She is reliable, efficient, and thorough in the performance of this key security position, at a very sensitive Federal Installation. Stephanie’s educational goals are important to her and she will most assuredly achieve them in the near future.
Creighton Roberts was hired by CSPS on 11 February 2012. He came to them from Savannah State University where he was the Chief of the Security Force. As one of their Shift Supervisors, Creighton has proven himself to be a valuable addition to the FLETC Glynco Security Team. He is respected by his subordinate officers, peers, and management as a true Professional Security Officer. LT Roberts is well known throughout the Training Center Community and respected by students, staff members, alike. He is currently working a full time position with CSPS FLETC Glynco, and also pursuing a second Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling and he plans to be a family therapist. His personal drive and motivation is commendable and his value to the security team as well as the ITPEU bargaining unit is unquestionable.
Felicia Sutton has been an employee of the FLETC Glynco Security Department since her hire on 17 May 2007. Hired as a Dispatch Security Officer, she quickly proved herself to be a dedicated and efficient member of the security team. In October 2008, when CSPS was awarded the Glynco contract, Felicia was hired to continue her Dispatch duties which she performed for the prior contractor. Felicia has pursued her personal education, while working a full-time position with CSPS. Her personal motivation and commitment is commendable. In August 2012 she eagerly accepted the challenge of retraining, as an APCO Certified Public Safety Tele-Communicator, and has performed these new duties in an excellent manner.
About the Scholarship
The Trustees of the ITPEU Annual Benefit Fund (ABF) have established an education scholarship program to help qualified active member employees, their spouses or dependents achieve their educational and career goals. Post-secondary scholarships will be awarded for study at a traditional college or university, a community college, or an accredited public or private vocational/technical institution. The competition will be open to the ABF's active member employees, their spouses or dependent children who plan to pursue study.
The Scholarship and Recognition Programs Unit (SRPU) at Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, New Jersey, will provide a selection committee to evaluate all candidates and to administer the program, including the identification of the scholarship winners.
The educational benefit will be offered to active member employees, spouses or dependents, to include students currently enrolled in college. The goal is to provide the financial support to help individuals pursue post-secondary schooling or training and to extend an educational benefit to a broad spectrum of the membership.
Scholarships will be awarded in the following categories:
· five 4-year scholarships for study at a college or university in amounts up to $10,000.00 in each of the four years;
· two 2-year scholarships for study at a community or junior college in amounts up to $5,000.00 in each of the two years;
· eight awards for up to two years of study at a vocational/ technical school or institute in amounts up to $5,000.00 per year of study.
The unique feature of this program is the inclusion of ABF active member employees as candidates for the scholarships. ABF Trustees and their families are not eligible for any of these scholarships.
